Career Experience
Starting as a peer tutor in General Chemistry in college, my favorite subjects have been Mathematics and the Sciences. Upon graduating, I worked in the fields of Semiconductors, Natural Gas and Energy, and provided technical consultancy to instrument companies and universities. Perhaps as a tribute to experience with tutoring as an undergraduate, and lecturing Chemistry as a graduate student, I had been especially adept at taking a complex scientific or mathematical concept and breaking it down to the level of comprehension by a lay person or a professional of varying discipline -- a precursor to my present occupation. After transitioning from the industry to education, I was fortunate to discover passion and fulfillment in helping students achieve their personal goals, be it basic education, performance in math and science, standardized testing, high school equivalency attainment or self-improvement through further education and more lucrative career options. In addition, I volunteer as Adult Basic Education Tutor and work with at-risk urban youth.
I Love Tutoring Because
during my numerous career incarnations in the industry, I found that the part of my duties I enjoyed most was helping external clients to utilize technology and explaining to them how science can meet their needs. After transitioning from the industry to education, I was fortunate to discover passion and fulfillment in helping students achieve their personal goals, realize their potential and become productive members of society. Kids are uncanny human beings, curious, growing, adapting, and changing. It is a thrill to be part of this exciting stage in their lives. I love not just to teach them but to garner attitudes toward learning conducive to continual academic success.
