Students describe their time at Duquesne University as 鈥渂eyond satisfying.... I was able to discover new subjects that I love learning about and tailor my academic experience to those interests.鈥 In particular, students laud the nursing, education, business, and biomedical engineering fields. On the medical side, the 鈥渋nformative鈥 and 鈥渉ands-on鈥 clinicals and lab simulation opportunities are seen as some of the campus鈥 best and most 鈥渙ne-of-a-kind鈥 academic features. Across the board, students highlight frequently updated technology and a variety of classroom types as benefits, such as the experience-based style: 鈥淲e have to do whatever we are learning, and it vastly improves my learning.鈥 Enrollees also cite 鈥渁 good number of guest speakers and experts,鈥 all of which 鈥渂reaks up the heavy lectures.鈥 Professors are passionate about what they teach and 鈥渨ant to see their students succeed in everything that they do later in life.鈥 They鈥檙e described as being 鈥渁lways willing to meet,鈥 and are good for 鈥減ossible research experience or anything that the student may need.鈥 Along those lines, they also practice a range of teaching methods, which some undergrads suggest offers 鈥渘ew ways [of ] engaging us, involving us..., and treating us like adults.鈥 Another benefit comes in the small, focused class sizes 鈥渋n which students can discuss specific topics in depth鈥 and also have 鈥渂etter relationships with professors and classmates.鈥 For those looking to get out of the classroom, Duquesne鈥檚 outdoor classes and study-abroad opportunities are much appreciated.
