SHU is described as a "hold-the-door-open community" characterized by "small acts of kindness wherever you go." The university's Catholic affiliation "really speaks to the values of the overall student population," and students "seem to be very dedicated to working hard to receive good grades." Most students at SHU are "enthusiastic and excited to be at the campus." They're also characterized as "supportive, uplifting, driven, kind, and passionate about their respective clubs and organizations." Some suggest their peers skew white and are "middleand upper-class" but both within and without that, enrollees point to there being "a variety of people" within an "environment where everyone feels like they belong." Sacred Heart "does a very good job in giving all students experiences to meet new people" and to unwind and meet people" through activities like the First 50 Days program, which "offers fun events for first-years and current students. There are also "many different activities and clubs, which gives the student body a chance to really immerse themselves in," everything from club sports and academic clubs to more casual groups like the crochet club. Students enjoy activities and events like "make your own bracelet or stuffed animal, as well as the Fall Fest and Spring Carnival," and "bingo night is so much fun." Students are quick to note that the "performing arts programs are a big part of campus life" and help "bring us together." The only quibble is that a few feel the school "could expand on the dining hall options," though the larger takeaway is that the provided options for "food on campus [are] delicious." Mainly, though, the "university is filled with school spirit," especially evident at sporting events. SHU has over 30 Division I teams, with hockey games being particularly popular. The campus is within "walking distance to a golf course" and students "like to play pickleball whenever the temperature is nice outside." Greek life offers "a supportive and engaging community" and "a lot of opportunities to give back." As one enrollee summarizes, "We have a good balance of academics and having fun on campus."
