The MBA at Vanderbilt鈥檚 Owen Graduate School of Management offers students the flexibility to shape their own curriculum. Students are drawn to the program for this 鈥減ersonal approach鈥 and the school鈥檚 鈥渃ollaborative environment.鈥 As one student says, 鈥淢y voice is really important to me, and while at Owen, I was able to find my voice due to the small class size and the personal scale of the program.鈥 Students choose at least one concentration and can add more concentrations, specializations, or emphases. The nine different concentrations include marketing, accounting, and finance, as well as more specific areas like healthcare and human & organizational performance. There are also opportunities for independent study, such as working with a company and creating 鈥測our own project, supervised by a professor, for class credit.鈥 In addition, 鈥済roup work is a major part of most classes,鈥 which helps students prepare for careers that 鈥渞evolve around being able to work in diverse teams.鈥
The school has 鈥渁 great faculty that truly cares about our success and wants to help us every step of the way.鈥 Professors here 鈥渁ll know us by name and are extremely available to help both professionally and personally.鈥 Students find that the courses feel up-to-date and are taught 鈥渦sing relevant materials.鈥 The school鈥檚 small size means students get to know each other, which 鈥渂uilds a strong sense of community that carries over into a psychologically safe classroom environment.鈥 As one student says, 鈥淚 feel comfortable speaking up in class and safe to share a differing perspective.鈥
